Gen Alpha are budding savers with average £400 in bank already, survey finds
About four-fifths (78%) of parents said they encourage their child to save some or all their pocket money, according to the UK-wide survey carried out by Censuswide in October. More than two-thirds (68%) of parents reported that their children are balancing saving with spending, using their pocket money to buy items such as food, toys, and video games. Joanne Phillips, managing director of Aviva Direct Wealth, said: “Our research suggests that Gen Alpha is emerging as Gen Save. “Children are starting to save early, manage their money wisely, and build strong financial habits that will benefit them well into the future. “With children already saving an average of over £400, they are gaining confidence in both the importance of saving and the benefits of interest-earning accounts – lessons that will serve them well during adulthood.”

Man charged in connection with serious assault in Kildare
Michael BoltonA man has been arrested in connection with the serious assault of a man in Kildare on Monday. The incident happened shortly before 12 noon on Newbridge Road, near the Ardconagh Housing Estate. A man in his 20s has been arrested and is currently being held in a Garda station in Kildare. In addition, they are appealing to those with video footage, particularly dash-cam footage from motorists traveling on Newbridge Road near the Ardconagh Housing Estate at the time, to come forward. Man died hours before his wedding after car driven by best man hit a pole, court hears
David RaleighA man was killed just hours before his wedding when a telephone pole smashed through the front windscreen of a car and into his head, a court heard on Monday evening. Myles Harty, whose son “Miley” was born a few months after he died, suffered catastrophic head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Shane Harty was initially charged with one count of dangerous driving causing Mr Harty’s death. Following the collision, Shane Harty admitted to gardaí he had been speeding and “showing off” as he drove the three men shortly before the crash. Shane Harty’s barrister, senior counsel Brian McInerney, asked the sentencing judge, Colin Daly, to consider a number of mitigating factors in his judgement.

Ryan DunneA Central Criminal Court jury has heard that a murder accused told gardaí he was "jabbing back" with a knife during a fight with other men, which resulted in him stabbing his lifelong friend. However, the jury heard that Mr Murphy also said that he would not have harmed Mr Brosnan on purpose. Mr Murphy, of no fixed abode, has pleaded not guilty to murder, but guilty to the manslaughter of Mr Brosnan, at Abbey Court, Tralee, on May 22nd, 2022. “It fizzled out but not before Mr Lisowski had slapped Mr Murphy in the face,” said Mr Gageby. A short time later, Mr Brosnan opened the door to Mr Murphy again and told the accused to go.

I know from personal experience the limits of free speech set upon journalists. The concept of "free speech absolutism" is an absurdity. Currently, Britain’s mini-Musks are desperately trying to create a culture war over another free speech mirage. Around the world, it’s now wearyingly commonplace that those who claim to cherish free speech are more often than not liberty’s enemies. Free speech has been traduced by charlatans so they can parlay this great cause into a cheap pay-day.

British Airways ‘technical issue’ hits flights as passengers left frustrated
