Monrovia – The Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL) is troubled by the increasing waves of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and other forms of Harmful Practices across Liberia while the government watches supinely and do nothing to bring perpetrators to book and provide security for the survivors. FeJAL’s statement comes against the backdrop that perpetrators of inhumane acts of sexual violence is being meted against females while the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection proudly document the incidents without taking tangible actions as if it is an achievement of government. The 24-year-old woman has since then been unable to walk due to injuries she sustained from the cuffs, while her spouse was left untouched because the rules do not apply to men. The violations continued with the “Gang Rape” of a 12 years old girl in Charlesville, Margibi County, A “Gang Rape” of a 19 year old girl in the Fendell Coomunity, Montserrado County, an 11 years old girl raped by a 51 years old man in River Gee County, an 8 years old girl rape in Grand Cape Mounty County, amongst others. These grim statistics have been recorded since the outbreak of the coronavirus and the subsequent declaration of the State of Emergency (SOE) by President George Manneh Weah.

Dear Liberian Government,Please instruct your son, Ministry of Education, to make part of his instructional plan the teaching of the Law Book, “THE CONSTITUTION”, in respect to Article 10 of said Constitution. Liberian Government, today, most of us, Liberians are silent on issues affecting us because we don’t know how and when to engage you, for any redress and solutions, for bad decisions made that continue to dehumanize us, as if to say, we Liberians are the creation of a lesser God. We are quiet, simply we don’t know what is contained in that Law Book about us. Knowing the CONSTITUTION is fundamental to our being and decision-making process, we are calling on you very respectfully to honor this constitutional provision, by restoring our constitutional traditions to save the next generations from constitutional ignorance. There is an urgent need for the government of Liberia through the above mentioned government Ministries, Agency and Commission (MAC) to speedily adopt the drafted POLICY and STRATEGY on CYBERCRIMES in Liberia. In the early 2000s, the focus of ICTs in Liberia was on expanding Internet access. The availability of Internet access means more people today have access to the Internet. The expansion of the Internet access has brought with it risks of attack from a person with disruptive tendencies to dupe other Internet users and commit cybercrimes. In this case, cybercrimes occur daily in Liberia, but people walk without penalty due to lack of CYBERCRIME POLICY AND STRATEGY.

The Board is independent of the Ministry of Finance and the Liberia Revenue Authority. The Tax Court at the Temple of Justice has on several occasions upheld the ruling the Board of Tax Appeals. Bridgeway Corporation resisted this claim before first filing the complaint about the refund to the Broad of Tax Appeal (BOTA), which had earlier ruled against Bridgeway Corporation.

She alarmed that the country would continue to have unfavorable reports if the response effort is not void of politics. “Today, we are faced with Covid-19, an economic and health-shock that is leaving devastating costs on lives and stifling our livelihoods. Even the well-resourced health systems are under severe stress and being rapidly overwhelmed by the intensity of the transmission,” she said. Even though the former Liberia leader said there are, and will be hard times ahead, she believes addressing these problems is incumbent upon every Liberian. Unlike Ebola, the former Liberia leader said Liberia may not have the depth of partnerships that were mobilized.
