Liberia: WOSI Carries out Awareness on Rape Law in Lofa and Nimba Counties
Describing rape as violent, barbaric and wicked, Caroline Armah, said all hands must be on deck to put stop to this ungodly act of rape in the society. The consultative meetings with stakeholders including women, men and youths were aimed discussing a much more simplified version of rape, domestic violence and inheritance laws of Liberia. Under the project titled “Strengthening awareness on legal framework related to women and girls”, the project supports women access to justice targeting women in remote counties, including Lofa, Nimba, Grand Capemount and Monsterrado counties. Some vowed to take the campaign against SGBV, particularly in the wake of how rape cases in the country have tripled. The participants were grateful that the program was brought to them and they encouraged the Women Solidarity Incorporated to extend the program to other parts of Nimba and Lofa Counties.

Morlu is no doubt an ardent supporter of President Weah and a firm believer of the CDC. Mr. Morlu was heard in a leaked audio in December 2019 making startling revelations about President Weah and other officials of the government. Chairman Morlu also accused the Liberian Chief Executive of soliciting funds from friendly nations, including international and local businesses in the name of Liberia, but allegedly diverts those funds to the construction of his personal properties.

Liberia: FLY Launches Youth Civic Engagement And Democratic Participation Project
BUCHANAN – Liberian youths have been told to embrace peace and shun violence as future leaders of the nation. They have also been advised to ask for major roles in the ongoing efforts to rebuild Liberia. “Let me urge the youths of Liberia against being misguided by politicians to hire innocent youths to instigate violence during political rallies,” he said. ‘We are empowering the youths to think beyond politics, by studying those blue prints of the future,” he said. Monrovia – It was a moment of excitement for the staff and kids of the Children Rescue Center when the Foundation for Human Rights Defense (FOHRD) donated food items to them. The donation included 15 bags of 25-kg rice, five containers of five-gallon tin of red oil, maggi cube, among others. Johnson further told Ms. Marpue Yekeku, that FOHRD was stretching its hands to them because it cares. Receiving the items, Caretaker Yekeku thanked the organization, stating that the gift was brought in the time the children mostly needed it. Grand Gedeh County – A youth of Grand Gedeh County has written the National Elections Commission to either replace or dismiss the Elections Magistrate in the County ahead of the 2020 senatorial and referendum elections. In the former Karyee filed a complaint with the NEC that he was robbed of victory in Grand Gedeh District three election in 2011. He said it puts the credibility of the elections in doubt if Mr Dougee remains elections Magistrate in the Grand Gedeh County. Dunner also alleged that Magistrate Dougee has a host of close friends – also connected with Rep Grant – who he often hires to conduct elections in Grand Gedeh.
