People of Kparnyah Town and Firestone Liberia Dialogue For Peaceful Co-Existence
HARBEL, Margibi County – On Saturday, September 12, 2020 the people of Kparnyah Town, in Margibi County and the Management of Firestone Liberia began a dialogue process which is expected to end a long running tension between the people and the company. Meanwhile, a recent investigative survey conducted by Liberia Land Authority revealed that the land in question falls within Firestone’s concession; adding that the company has not crossed the metes and bounds given by the Government of Liberia. The result of the investigative survey was explained at the mass citizens’ meeting by Attorney Adam Manobah, Chairman of the Liberia Land Authority, LLA. “We have been friends for a long time with the people of Kparnyah Town. I don’t what went wrong, but will to solve the problem,” said Mr Don Darden, General Manager of Firestone Liberia when he spoke at the meeting.

The university has not begun full operation but Roberts says the T-5 University, when open, will offer varieties of courses that will prepare the young people for the emerging jobs market. According to the National Chairman for Friends of Herbie McCauley, Representative Fallah over the past decade has proffered important legislations which he said are in the interest of not only his District but the country at large.

Liberia: Sinkor Rotary Club Donates Sanitary Materials to Schools in Rural Montserrado
The intervention was triggered by a FrontPageAfrica report about the lack of preventive materials when the government had just announced the resumption of classes for 12 graders. Lower Montserrado – Low disease preventive practices at public schools in rural Montserrado has worsened, thus prompting the intervention of the Rotary Club of Sinkor. But the Rotary Club of Sinkor has come to the aid of two of these schools by presenting them a consignment of preventive materials to include, detergents, tissues, sanitizers, chloral and masks, among others. African Leaders For Nutrition Call On Leaders To Embed Nutrition Within The Covid-19 Response And Recovery
ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast – The African Leaders for Nutrition (ALN) have unveiled a position paper calling upon African Heads of State and Governments to ensure that financing for nutrition is included in their country’s COVID-19 response and recovery plans. The position paper, titled “Embedding Nutrition within the COVID-19 Response and Recovery,” was sent to African member states by His Majesty King Letsie III of the Kingdom of Lesotho, an ALN “Nutrition Champion”. Embedding Nutrition within the COVID-19 Response and Recovery recommends that countries maintain and increase the level of funding allocated to nutrition to safeguard previous efforts to address malnutrition, and ensure there are no gaps within their multi-year nutrition programmes in immediate, medium-term and post-pandemic recovery COVID-19 responses. Nutrition cannot be left behind in the COVID-19 response in Africa. Embedding Nutrition within the COVID-19 Response and Recovery forms part of the African Development Bank’s COVID-19 Response Facility to deploy financial and technical measures to cushion African economies and livelihoods against the health, social and economic impacts of the pandemic.

Liberia: Food Distributors Go Hungry in Nimba, Threaten to Sell Data Collection Materials
Bahn City, Nimba County – A group of enumerators contracted by the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) to gather data in Bahn City, Nimba County have threatened to sell the materials given them to buy food and transport themselves back to Monrovia. The group, about 11 in total were hired by LISGIS to gather data in Bahn City and its surrounding towns and villages for the ongoing COVID-19 food distribution exercise. Meanwhile, LISGIS, as part of the Steering committee, working with the World Food Program (WFP) to implement the Government food distribution exercise, is charged with the integral responsibility to enumerate every household in Liberia before the distribution of the package to the family. “By the end of Saturday, we will complete the greater Monrovia area for data collection and move to rural Montserrdo. Then to Margibi, Nimba and Grand Kru, to be followed by the other counties,” he said back in July.

Senator Dillon had gone at the meeting to engage his supporters and to detail his plans ahead of the December 8 senatorial election. The unidentified individual was prevented from reaching to Senator Dillon, lifted and threw out of the hall by security guards. The forum is located right opposite the Church of God of Prophecy, where Senator Dillon and his supporters were also meeting. Liberia: Man, 22, Suffering From ‘Spinal Stenosis’ Appeals for Assistance
Gbarnga, Bong County – James Doloyuwah, 22, is currently suffering from ‘Spinal Stenosis’ and is seeking aid for advanced medical treatment. James is a youth of Suakoko Town in Bong County and a 10th-grade secondary school student. Doloyuwah is currently residing in Bong County and is a high school student who cuts palm-nut and then sell it for survival. Due to this condition, Doloyuwah says the spinal cord has lost its normal coordination. For now, he says, his paramount concern is to seek advanced medical treatment.
