There are good chocolate companies who want to do business with the Liberia cocoa sector.”The Liberian National Cocoa Sector Public-Private Platform, also known as the NC3P, is apublic-private platform that has played a significant role in the visioning, coordination, and facilitation of some key interventions within the cocoa sector. Monrovia – On June 24, Criminal Court ‘C’ Judge Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay trashed government Lawyers’ application to deny the bail bond of three indicted ex- officials of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL). Judge Gbeisay denied Prosecution’s request after entertaining arguments between the two parties – Defense Counsels and Government lawyers on the motion titled “Justification of Surety”. “Both categories are criminal appearance bond. The objective is for the defendants to be available when needed by the court,” the Judge said. The justification, in the mind of this court has sufficiently established the legal capacity of the surety and the sufficiency of the amount stated in the criminal appearance bond.

According to the agreement, the Embassy of Sweden funded project and implemented by UN Women will provide financial resources amounting to US$ 27,500 under the women, girls and children pillar led by the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection for the production of face masks. The initiative is part of the UN Women’s continuous effort to support the Government’s response to the coronarivus pandemic. Adding up, Liberia Country Representative of UN Women, Madam Marie Goreth Nizigama said the initiative will ensure that women in most vulnerable communities have masks to prevent themselves from COVID-19. Monrovia – Liberia has moved up to Tier 2 of the United States’ human trafficking report after being on the Tier 2 Watch List for three years. According to a release from the US Embassy in Monrovia, “the Government of Liberia has demonstrated sufficient progress to be elevated” after evaluation by the State Department’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIPs). “This outcome reflects the dedicated efforts of the Government of Liberia to fight human trafficking, as well as the achievements possible through U.S.-Liberia partnership,” the release dated June 25 stated, adding that the two nations are “working together”. Last year, the US government became very outspoken about Liberia’s underwhelming performance against human trafficking, which is notorious as modern-day slavery. It happened after Ambassador Richmond held talks with President Geroge Weah and other government officials, who then pledged support for increased efforts against human trafficking.

Rep. Gray posted to Facebook Sunday morning that his decision to step aside had nothing to do with any election. MONROVIA – Montserrado County District 8 Representative Moses Acarous Gray who also serves the vice chairman for political affairs of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) has resigned his post at the party. Monrovia – Three members of the Liberian Senate Saturday defected to the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) ahead of the December Mid Term Senatorial Elections. The senators are Henry Yallah (Bong), George Tengbeh (Lofa) and Victor Watson of Grand Capemount. Accompanied by a delegation from Lofa, Senator Tengbeh expressed confidence of winning the December by-election because of his membership with the CDC. And with my membership of the CDC, it has just added value to my status in the county.”Despite his membership with CDC, Senator Tengbeh appears to be facing challenges in his re-election bid.
