According to the mother of the little girl, Ohamadike Faustina, she was flogged and left with bruises for not being able to pronounce letters S and I. The family had allowed the head of the school, Anthonia Omowale to handle the matter first but nothing was forth coming on the case. When she asked her, the girl said she was flogged on the head, she confronted the school and they denied it. “When my sister, confronted the teacher, she boasted that it wasn’t only the girl that was flogged. When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident, said the police had arrested the teacher.

FG To Train 500,000 Public Servants On Digital Economy
Published 13 February 2022The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) says plans are underway to train 500,000 public servants on digitisation and Information Technology (IT) to improve service delivery. Arabi said that the bureau was working with the U.S. government and other key private sector agencies to ensure the training of public servants on digitisation and use of IT among others. “We are working with the private sector to build the capacity of the public servants to understand the language. “For instance, accountants used to raise vouchers and cheques to pay contractors and salaries, now they are doing that electronically. He said that by the year 2030, the Nigerian public service should be paperless and fully digitised.

Barely two days after some security officers were killed in Enugu State, another team of four policemen on stop-and-search duty at the outskirts of Enugu metropolis have been shot dead by armed hoodlums. on Saturday, Feb. 12, at Obeagu community along Amaechi-Ekeotu-Agbani Town Road; leaving the road deserted till 7 p.m. The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed the attack but did not give the number of casualties. Ndukwe said: “Police operatives have been duly deployed and are on the trail of the unknown armed assailants. UPDATED: Three dead, two rescued after seven hours under collapsed Yaba building
No fewer than three persons have been recovered dead from the ruins of the building which collapsed in the Yaba area of Lagos State on Saturday. Aside from the three fatalities recorded, emergency responders were able to rescue two victims who were trapped under the rubbles for more than seven hours alive. So far, it is still unclear the number of people trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building. His confirmation was contained in a statement released by the agency’s spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor, titled, ‘Situation Report on Collapsed Building on Akanbi Street Close to Unilag Main Gate’. Recovered dead: 3 adult males.”He added that the recovery operation was still ongoing for other victims.

Hotelier arrested for allegedly killing security guard in Delta
The Chief Executive Officer of Noble Ocean Hotel in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State,Noble Iteme, has been arrested for clubbing his security guard, Godstime Sunday, to death. The suspect reportedly questioned the security guard about his whereabouts when the robbers allegedly invaded the hotel. Upon noticing that the security guard was bleeding profusely, the suspect, on a second thought, contacted the police to come and arrest the guard. I wrote a piece a few years ago about the valentine day celebration entitled: “The Lent in Valentine”. That happened because valentine day that year fell during the period of lent and many people worried that they would not be able to celebrate Valentine well during that period. Valentine Day is here again, but this time, not coinciding with the Lenten period. Occurring just three days before the valentine day set on February 14, it qualifies to be the Catholic Church’s Valentine for the sick and the poor. The theme of the Pope’s message for the World Day of the Sick this year is: “Standing Beside those who Suffer on a Path of Charity”.

Gombe receives awards for contributions to fight against child malnutrition
The two awards were presented by the National Secretariat of Civil Society Scaling-Up Nutrition in Nigeria(CS-SUNN) through the Coordinator of the CS-SUNN coalition of Gombe State during the end of the project meeting in Abuja. Other areas were town hall meetings, household economy training for women in communities, and nutrition education and food demonstration during antenatal care. The programme also carried out support to SCFN meetings, development of sermon notes on nutrition from the Islamic and Christian perspectives. Until recently, malnutrition was a major health concern in Gombe State with the attendant classification of the state as one with a high record of children not being able to grow to their potential. However, with a multi-sectoral approach to addressing the problem instituted by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, Gombe is now leading the way.

A fresh letter has surfaced online seeking support for the royal wedding involving the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, and a princess from Kano State.
