A founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum and elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has revealed that he would support the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s presidential bid in 2023. Yakasai told Saturday PUNCH that the ex-governor of Lagos was at his Abuja residence to solicit his support for his (Tinubu’s) presidential ambition in the next general elections. Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had in October inaugurated the South-West Agenda 2023, a political movement mobilising support for Tinubu to contest the 2023 presidential election. Speaking with Saturday PUNCH on Friday, 96-year-old Yakasai said he had earmarked two politicians to support for Presidency in 2023. Italian authorities said the criminal network forced 41 Nigerian women into prostitution while nine were forced to beg for money on the streets. The suspects have been charged with money laundering, facilitating illegal immigration, human trafficking, forced prostitution and slavery, according to a police statement. Beyond Italy, the network stretched from Nigeria via Libya and up to Germany as well. According to investigators, the gang managed to move nearly €11.4 million ($12.5 million) in prostitution, money laundering and begging profits to Nigeria. The men arrested Monday were said to have lured young Nigerian women to Europe with the prospect of working in Italy and the payment of their travel costs.

The Director-General, National Agricultural Seeds Council, Philip Ojo, said Nigeria had been exporting seeds in large volumes to neighbouring countries. He said, “Nigeria supplies more than 50 per cent of quality seeds that are being used in West Africa. Other countries in West Africa are coming to learn what makes us big in seed production. The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), has bid farewell to the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Abhay Thakur, and the Italian Ambassador, Dr Stefano Pontesilli. Gunmen have attacked Te’egbe community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State and killed several people. The PUNCH gathered that several houses belonging to the natives were also set ablaze by the gunmen while several others sustained injuries during the attack which occurred in the early hours of Friday.
