Alternative cancer clinics’ use of Google listings and reviews to mislead potential patients

Full size tableLast, positive reviews commented on the facility quality where they received treatment (n = 62; 6.6% of positive reviews). In contrast to positive reviews, negative reviews primarily came from the family of patients (n = 60), and very few reviews came from patients themselves (n = 17). The most concerning cases included cases where cancer progressed after opting out of conventional care in favor of alternative cancer treatment. Among positive reviews, we found evidence certain Google reviews challenged negative reviews (n = 21).

Miami-Dade County Sells $235 Million In Bonds for New Government Facility
By Patrick SheridanFlorida's Miami-Dade County sold $235 million in municipal bonds to fund the development of a new government center. The Series 2024A Capital Asset Acquisition Special Obligation Bonds have maturities ranging from 2027 to 2054, according to a filing Tuesday on MuniOS. Miami-Dade plans to use the proceeds from the tax exempt bonds to fund the acquisition, construction, improvement and renovation related to the West Dade Government Center. The county also plans to use proceeds from the bonds to fund capitalized interest through Oct. 1, 2026. Instead, Future announced a new SmartBrief newsletter that will focus on media and entertainment, and a new Nexttv.com website in October.

Disney hikes price for Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ subscription services
Disney’s streaming services are about to get more expensive. On Tuesday, the media company announced price hikes across the board for Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. ESPN+, the company’s sports streaming service, will also rise by $1 to $11.99 per month. TIGHTENING: Disney+ will crack down on password sharingThe company also hiked the price of its subscription services by several dollars last year in an effort to make its streaming services profitable. Disney’s direct-to-consumer business, which includes its streaming services Disney+ and Hulu, long a money-losing endeavor for the company, eked out its first profit in May.

To the Editor:Re “Tim Walz Is Kamala Harris’s Choice for Vice President” (nytimes.com, Aug. 6):Kamala Harris has announced that Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota will be her running mate. Ms. Harris may be adhering to the old political maxim that the most important thing about picking a running mate is to “do no harm,” and that Mr. Walz better fits this description than does Josh Shapiro. Furthermore, Tim Walz is undeniably a solid pick, and an unassuming, witty and funny guy, all positive attributes in a vice president and in a running mate. Harris-Walz sounds like a musical composition from Johann Strauss, and hopefully they will indeed make beautiful “music” together.
