The future of art is very much the theme of “Your Ghosts Are Mine: Expanded Cinema, Amplified Voices,” a film and video installation that coincides with this year’s Venice Biennale. Organized by Qatar Museums and featuring some 40 artists from the region, it speaks to the emergence of the Middle East as a force in various art forms, not to mention a force in changing the narrative on how the region is portrayed in film and art. The future is on the mind of Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the chairwoman of Qatar Museums and the Doha Film Institute. Al Mayassa sees this year’s Art for Tomorrow conference in Venice, convened by the Democracy & Culture Foundation, with panels moderated by New York Times journalists, as a chance to improve the profile of artists from her home country of Qatar and beyond. Among the events at the conference is a tour of the installation at the ACP Palazzo Franchetti, a Biennale venue.

n February 2024, Saudi Arabia established Alat, an advanced technology firm owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF). Alat and, more broadly, the Kingdom's transition away from being solely an oil–based economy, will significantly impact Saudi Arabia's foreign and domestic politics. Alat and Saudi Arabia's innovation effortsWhen Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced the creation of Alat in February 2024, he stressed the vital role this organization will play in Saudi Arabia's economic development. Last year, China brokered a historic deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran, two hostile countries. Despite Vision 2030's efforts, Saudi Arabia's private sector's share of GDP was 41% in 2022—it has increased in recent years, but it is still lower than that of other competitors.

Despite its diversified landscape, monuments and vast desert, Algeria failed to attract tourists, partly because of a rigid visa policy that thwarts visitors. Insecurity is another factor that has been discouraging tourists from visiting the country, where a constellation of terrorist groups operate in the country’s south. By imposing strict visa processes, Algeria is sending the world a message that it does not want tourists. Some analysts deem that Algeria is only interested in domestic tourism since it cannot protect foreign tourists. In Algeria, tourists cannot leave big cities without heavy police presence.

The Kingdom “hopes that the various parties concerned will adhere to this initiative and commit to implementing its different stages,” the ministry underlined in the statement. The roadmap to an enduring ceasefire was detailed by President Biden in remarks he made end of last week at the White House. Besides, hundreds of thousands of temporary shelters, including housing units, would be delivered by the international community. Cutting out the middleman in fresh produce“Our system is anchored on delivering fresh produce at the right price in a timely manner,” Youssef Mamou, co-founder and co-CEO of Yola Fresh tells AgFunderNews. Yola Fresh addresses the fresh produce supply chain’s fragmentation problem by sourcing fresh produce directly from farmers and delivering it to retail outlets and food service companies in Morocco’s capital Casablanca, where Yola Fresh is currently concentrating its operations. The entire Yola Fresh system reduces loss and translates into higher farmer and retailer incomes, reduced food spoilage, and fresher, more affordable options for consumers. Unlike other marketplace startups, Yola Fresh does not own warehouses or trucks and does not hold inventories. Yola Fresh also sees opportunities in providing smallholder farmers with access to finance, which will help increase production.
