MONROVIA – The second and third witnesses that testified on behalf of the National Elections Commission (NEC) last Friday provided a corroborating testimony in line with NEC first witness. Wonkeryor informed the hearing that, the NEC Magistrate in Nimba informed all the parties that a code will be sent from NEC head office and the three areas quarantine were corrected and parties’ observers signed. Providing further clarity on alleged missing TEEs he said, there were eight polling precincts eleven polling places whose TEEs where not outside but mistaken placed in the ballot boxes. According to witness Wonkeryor, the NEC magistrate launched an investigation concerning the TEEs and he was informed that the TEEs where mistaken placed in the ballot boxes. According to him, while making his way to ascertain the facts, he was arrested by officers of the Liberia National Police and allegedly flogged.

The government informed the station’s Management that Costa, as a fugitive from Liberian justice, can not host radio programs meant to communicate to Liberian audience while in the United States. If one is injured by a fugitive broadcasting from the United States, there would be no available redress. Any station, including D15, which continues in this path in utter violation of the laws of Liberia will have their permit and license revoked. The use of the airwaves is a license, granted by the Liberian government to those who meet prescribed criteria. Therefore, the government will leave no stone unturned in the scrupulous implementataion of the laws of Liberia, with sensitivity to protecting the rights and obligations of free speech.

Senator Sherman, in interview with reporters said, as a result of the sanction, he has lost most of his clients most of whom he has worked for since the establishment of his Sherman & Sherman Law Firm in the late ’80s. “My reputation is devastated and it’s going to take me years to repair after I have provided evidence to remove my name from sanction. On Thursday, the Liberian Senate received from Senator Sherman of Grand Cape Mount County his response to the United States sanction. I came back home, I am satisfied with this country.”The Senate leadership received and noted Senator Sherman response and promised to respond in three weeks due to its legal implications. It is not clear what the Senate leadership’s decision would be, but there are speculations that he could be removed as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The House’s latest move came as a result of APM Terminals’ latest increment of all current charges of its services at the Free Port of Monrovia. The port operator said the increment was in line with its concession agreement with the government of Liberia which allows a 2021 tariff adjustment using predefined formula. He said there was an urgent need to review the agreement signed between the APM Terminals and the Government to correct some of the flaws that the company is dwelling to exploit the Liberian citizens. I think APM Terminals’ operations in Liberia need to be revisited to address some of the clauses that continue to harm our people and economy. As part of its investigation, members of the committee travelled to Ghana in 2020 to get firsthand information on APM terminals’ operation in Ghana, as compared to its activities in Liberia.

Mr. Deddeh explained further that, all parties’ representatives signed the tally sheets validating the records of counts on December 8, 2020 thereby waving their rights to any allegation of voting Fraud and Irregularity. During his testimony, he blamed Madam Weh’s complaint on the lack of knowledge of fraud and cautioned Liberians participating in the electoral process to understand the processes leading to filing a complaint during election period. He explained his long termed experience working with the NEC and admitted not working with them during this gone senatorial election because he served as the chief representative for Senator Elect, Jeremiah Koung who was announced as winner during the just ended election by NEC.

MONROVIA – After nearly two years of being trapped in a murder allegation, the 13th Judicial Circuit Court of Margibi County today set Oliver Dillon free of the crime of murder. Oliver is a brother of Montserrado County Senator Darius Dillon. All 12 jurors, in a unanimous verdict Thursday, January 14, 2021, brought down a not-guilty verdict in favor of Oliver Dillon, something that was subsequently affirmed by Judge Joe Barcon. Oliver Dillon was on trial for allegedly murdering one Emmanuel Kofi believed to be a zogo (disadvantaged youth) in the Barnesville Community in early April 2019. “Political and public sentiments clouded the case thus forcing the delay of Justice for Oliver”, a supporter and sympathizer of Oliver Dillion stated.
