Currently, I have a foundation ‘The Offiong Edem Foundation’, which is basically about helping emerging table tennis talents develop.

Coca-Cola said Wednesday it’s changing the packaging from green to clear plastic beginning August 1 as part of broader efforts to become more environmentally responsible. Sprite’s current plastic contains green polyethylene terephthalate (PET), an additive that can’t be recycled into new bottles, a key initiative for the company as it looks to reduce plastic waste. The beverage giant has often been criticized for contributing to environmentally damaging plastic waste. Part of that initiative included launching a new 13.2-ounce bottle last year that is made from 100% recycled plastic material. Coke said this innovation is projected to reduce roughly 20 million pounds of new plastic waste compared to 2019.

In which case, it would be legitimate for any living organism to strive to preserve itself, such that self defence, in order to attain self preservation, becomes something worthwhile to do. We should, therefore, expect that this same reasoning would colour the perception of girls and women claiming to be acting in self defence against male sexual assaulters and killing the assaulters in the process. Rather, obstacles would still be put in the path of girls and women toward realising what should ordinarily be available to them as humans. The world and its societies and the authorities are simply not interested in girls and women as bonafide humans deserving of all human dignity. We must get girls and women to actively internalise the fact that self-defence is and cannot be a crime and that they have a responsibility to defend themselves against sexual assaulters and attackers.
