Mali’s army-dominated government has called for nationwide demonstrations on Friday against stringent sanctions imposed by the West Africa bloc ECOWAS over delayed elections. The Sahel state’s interim government stated Monday night that the sanctions — which include border closures and a trade embargo — are “extreme” and urged “the entire population and diaspora” to demonstrate against them on Friday. Leaders from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) agreed to sanction Mali on Sunday, in a decision that was later backed by former colonial power France at the UN Security Council. Under threat of sanctions following that putsch, Goita had promised to hold presidential and legislative elections, and to restore civilian rule by February 2022. His government has argued that rampant insecurity in Mali prevents it from organising safe elections by the end of February.

Currently, most hydrogen is made from natural gas or even coal. This is cheap but it produces lots of greenhouse gases. However, if you capture those greenhouse gases and bury them in the ground, you are allowed to call it “blue hydrogen”. Again, they say the technology to capture and store greenhouse gases is unproven and will be expensive. One is reminded the conversion of hydrogen to energy produces water vapour, which is a major greenhouse gas.

As we speak, more than 90% of bonded terminals today cannot boast of having a capacity of use of 15%, as most bonded terminals are denied cargoes by concessionaires even at the height of congestion. We engage in a callous murder of culture whenever we play down on our Urhoboness, Isokoness, Ijawness, Igboness, Yorubaness, etc. The First and Second World Wars was fought strictly on the basis of linguistic affiliation. The Austro-Hungarian Empire collapsed and out of it emerged Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. The Yoruba nation, Urhobo nation, Igbo nation, Ijaw nation, must all emerge and exist independently for there to be any experience of progress as we see elsewhere in the world. By this time, Nigeria would have been history, just as the Ottoman Empire is history today.
