The inferno occurred at vandalised pipeline on Isheri Olofin, off Igbando-LASU Expressway and it caused massive damage to the 330KV Ikeja-West Akangba Transmission Line 1. “The transmission towers affected are the two closest to the site of the inferno and three across the Lagos Canal. Mbah stated also that TCN would rearrange bulk electricity transmitted on that line route to the second 330kv line previously carrying 59mw. “Once it is energised, supply will be restored to all the substations affected by the incident from the second 330kv transmission line. “Load carried by the burnt 330kv line will now be transferred to the second line,’’ she also explained.

In response to the UAE government’s refusal, the Nigerian government withdrew the earlier winter schedule granted to Emirates Airline through the NCAA.

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has decried the newly revised hazard allowances applicable to health workers in state and federal healthcare facilities in the country. Recall that the issue of revision of hazard allowances for the health workers has been among key negotiation points between the association and the Federal Government for months. Following the resolution of a 9-week-old strike by the association, the FG announced, last week, that it will modify the allowances. The statement reads: “The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) is in receipt of a Circular with Reference No. “This new hazard circular is not the product of a true collective bargaining agreement (CBA), but a one-sided conclusion that betrayed the spirit of sincere amicable wage negotiations.”

We were always on and off and I was chasing her for most of the two-year period before we got married in August 2006. From where I stand now, I can’t see how either of us could have scripted a better adventure. It’s simply been the fact that two heads are better than one which is the point of marriage. Some of our responsibilities are sometimes borne by our families and I can’t be any more grateful to God for that. If you’re going to Benin, and you get on a bus going to Ekiti, of course, that journey will end before you arrive at your destination.
