New party vows support for Go
The Reform Party, headed by former Magdalo member James Layug, and the PDP-Laban, led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, have signed an agreement affirming support for Go. In the same press briefing, Cusi said the PDP-Laban entered an alliance with the Reform Party "because they believe in what we are espousing." Cusi also said talks are still on whether the Reform Party will also support dela Rosa. ... President Duterte is not running, and it was the party's decision that I run as vice president. Earlier, Go said Duterte's plan to retire from politics prompted him to run for vice president.

WASHINGTON — White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Tuesday that the United States can have solar energy and still stand up for human rights, following criticism that solar imports from China are linked to forced labor. President Joe Biden’s administration has issued warnings about the risks of supply chains in China’s Xinjiang region – which supplies much of the world’s solar industry – based on accusations of mass detention camps there for Muslim ethnic groups. About 45% of all polysilicon used in solar module production is produced in Xinjiang. The U.S. Senate this year passed a bill to ban Xinjiang products, but it has not advanced in the House. Biden’s climate envoy John Kerry has acknowledged the difficulties of reconciling climate concerns with some existing U.S. restrictions on China’s solar products.

Student jumps to his death from Tuen Mun building
A 17-year-old student took his own life on Tuesday morning, with reports suggesting that he had been suffering from physical health conditions. The tragedy came when the secondary six student jumped from a tall height at Yue Sang House in Kin Sang Estate. Police said the student -- wearing his school uniform -- was found lying on the building platform at 8.36am. He was rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital and was certified dead at 9.25am. On Monday, a 17-year-old boy fell from high up the NLSI Lui Kwok Pat Fong College in Kwun Tong.
