Misrata Free Zone (MFZ) announced today that its Director General, Ayman Al-Darwish, signed a memorandum of understanding with Egyptian company MAPSO Marine Propulsion, which specializes in marine technology and the supply of ship equipment and systems. The memorandum includes broad areas of cooperation, most notably:– The construction of marine fishing vessels as a first phase within the free zone. – The gradual expansion into the construction and maintenance of various types of marine vessels, including tugboats, boats, drilling rigs, and marine cranes. Khalifa Haftar met UN Special Representative Hanna Tetteh, head of the UN Support Mission in Libya, to discuss ongoing cooperation in stabilising the country. At least 53 migrants are presumed dead or missing after the collapse of a rubber boat off Libya.
