Policeman injured in an attack on a patrol in Tripoli
A policeman was injured after an unidentified armed group attacked a security patrol near Furousiya Bridge on the Airport Road, the Interior Ministry confirmed on Monday. The support force of the security directorate operating in Furousiya Bridge area was forced to respond to the source of fire, the Interior Ministry said in a statement, noting that the security patrol was fired upon with heavy weapons. According to the ministry, the security forces managed to arrest one of the attackers and seize two military vehicles. The ministry confirmed that it had taken all legal measures against the perpetrators, warning that it would strike with an iron fist anyone who may have ambitions to prejudice the security of the homeland and the citizens.

Al-Lafi discusses EU's role in supporting stability in Libya
The Deputy Head of the Presidential Council (PC) Abdullah Al-Lafi met on Monday with Libya's Ambassador to the European Union (EU), Jalal Al-Ashi, to discuss the latest political developments in the Libyan and European arenas. The PC's media office said the meeting touched upon the EU's role in supporting stability in Libya, and cooperation, especially towards unifying visions between Libya and the EU. The two sides also discussed issues of common concern, including humanitarian and security challenges in the Mediterranean basin.

Haftar: We are racing against time for finding way out of Libya crisis
The General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, said Monday “We are racing against time in search of a way out of the crisis through reunification and reconciliation. “The national interest motivates us to unite ranks and enhance confidence to face the challenges our country is facing,” Haftar said upon his visit to the southwestern town of Ghat. “The people are the source of authority, and the current situation will not change by relying on politicians or foreign intervention,” he added. “The army’s victories against terrorism were aimed at paving the way for other battles to build the state and determine the fate,” LNA Commander stated. “It is the people’s turn to lead the battle of change against the conspirators and corrupt people to get out of the dark tunnel,” according to Haftar.

Open Arms rescues 294 migrants in central Mediterranean Sea
Sea rescue NGO Open Arms have rescued 294 migrants, including 49 women and 60 children, on Sunday after they spent 5 days adrift central of the Mediterranean Sea. On Saturday, the Open Arms picked up 59 migrants from Syria, Egypt, Sudan and Eritrea, among them 10 minors, from an oil platform in international waters off Tunisia. Inside the flimsy smugglers’ boat, the charity found the wrapped body of a migrant who had been shot on shore by smugglers, AP reported citing Open Arms spokesperson Laura Lanuza. They spent a day or so at sea, and kept the corpse until they were saved,” Lanuza said. In late June, UN investigators reaffirmed previous reports about migrants and refugees detained in Libya facing serious abuse, with women especially being subjected to sexual violence.

At least one person dead after night of clashes in Tripoli
At least one police officer was wounded after armed groups clashed last night in the area near Mitiga International Airport, south of Tripoli. According to press reports, the clashes erupted after an armed group affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, known as the Second Security and Support Force, attacked police patrols with heavy weapons. At that point, another militia, called the Directorate Support Force, affiliated with the Ministry of the Interior, intervened and attacked the other militia in question and seized an armed vehicle bearing the rival group’s logos. Press reports indicated that Brigade 444, which affiliated with the Presidential Council, intervened to resolve the conflict and restore calm in the area.
